Bright light of the week: Lorent Saleh, leader of the Venezuela student protesters
What: Following a 25-day peaceful hunger strike involving 86 students across Venezuela, Saleh reports that Hugo Chavez has released seven of the 27 political prisoners held under false charges. The Venezuelan government has also offered to hold a roundtable discussion to address the students' remaining concerns. Otto Reich, former U.S. ambassador to Venezuela, credited Saleh and his alllies: "They actually brought that government to the negotiating table".
